My laptop only has 512 mb of RAM, I have 1 open slot. I've read that my particular computer can handle up to 1024 mb of RAM. Is adding 512 mb for $70.00 worth it?

Actually its your only choice, if it says 1024, 512 is the most you can add to your laptop. It will make a difference.

The old saying....
The More RAM, The Better Performance.
Worth $70.00 ? Really depends on what you want to do on your laptop. If you are doing games, especially online, then yes, it is worth it because your response time will be greatly increased. If you are opening and keeping open several programs at one time, Yes again because once the available RAM is occupied, the programs start using the computer and that really slows things down. If you are only using your laptop for surfing the web, e-mail and chat, then it is not really worth spending the $70.00 because you are not taxing your laptop as much. It is really an individuals call about having Max RAM.

Not for $70. Go to http://www.tigerdirect.com and get a better deal. It will be worth it performance wise, just get the same type of Ram to run in dual-channel mode. And don't pay $70 unless absolutely necessary.
