I don't have any idea of who it is, but here's the facts. I saw a close up picture of the ripped out article and these are the items I found
1. It is a man

2. His name starts with "J"

3. His name ends with "antham"

4. He was killed in The Tower of Beverly Hills Hotel

5. The doorman who discovered the body's name is Ted

I think it's not even a character that we've seen on the show yet. There's still three seasons left of the show so that's plenty of opportunity for new characters to be brought in.

Considering that no family or friends were there makes me lean towards . . . Sawyer! I think that deep down Jack likes the guy. Initially he was the Anti-Jack, but he became more and more a stand up guy.

I definitely don't think it was Juliette, because she had a sister and niece.

I can't imagine him shedding a tear for Ben, nor John Locke, who grew to be a huge thorn in Jack's side.

The coffin was way too small to be Hurley's. As a matter of fact, I was thinking that the coffin looked awfully small . . . period!

I'm still not completely sold on Jack's flashes being flash forwards. I guess there's a first for everything, but they've never done it before. It's always been flash backs. And, from Jack's island stubble he should have a mainly gray beard, not one that's nearly all black. I'd have to rewatch it but I don't recall him making any reference to the island in these so-called flash forwards. I realize Kate was in some of them, and they both looked paunchier, but I have a theory that Jack and Kate were married a long time ago. They divorced after Jack "lost" it when he killed someone on the operating table. This whole island thing has been Jack's drug induced nightmare/dream. The other characters were people he's met on his numerous transcontinental flights. He's constantly fighting with his good and his bad self, as he's looking for a way out of his addiction.

Jack IS "Lost".

My guess is Locke, jack said it was neither friend nor family and based on the powers the island has im gonna guess Locke looses his ability to walk again once he leaves the island and then somehow dies and Jack feels responsible knowing that Locke tried to convince them all along to stay. Also in the end Jack said we shouldnt have left we need to go back which was basically Lockes whole purpose of exsisting. Im just pissed the series seems so close to completeion but the lost people just signed a contract to make at least another 3 seasons. I really hope they dont ruin the best show on TV.

P.S. I also thought Sawyer but in the end season Kate says that she needs to go home to "him" which I took as meaning that she ends up with Sawyer. Theres a whole bunch of people who would apply to the no friends or family theory. Locke, Sawyer, Ben and knowing Lost its probably someone we least expect whos family gets killed off later in the show, like Jin or Desmond or someone. Im sticking with Locke though, theres always been a weired connection between them that wasnt really friendship but like mutual allies who hated each other, I can see Jack feeling guilty for Lockes death.

I saw something today that magnifies the newspaper article in Jack's hand when he is in the vehicle looking at it. The name started with a J and it said he was from New York. Another website said the newspaper was the LA Times from April 2?, 2007 (I think it was either the 24th or 27th).
I think it is John Locke.

I disagree. When asked by the funeral director if Jack is a friend or family he says "either," not "neither." Also, It's not important who has died, jus the fact that it is someone that was rescued from the island by Jack. Jack is so distraught over this because he rescued these people, only to come back the the"real world" only to have them die. This leads us to why Jack is now a drug addict/loser.

Hmmm. It had to be someone Jack couldn't bear to live without. When the funeral director asked him if it was friend or family, Jack said "neither". It's not Kate. I have no idea!!!
