I don't know if I could find a top three like you did because that would be very difficult but here goes.
George Jones - He Stopped Loving Her Today
Jason Michael Caroll - Alyssa Lies
Darryl Worley - Have You Forgotten
I might also add, not exactly in that order. BTW - what makes you say Clint Black? This is a wedding song filled with love? Yes, weddings bring tears, but sadness?

I question what some people think is a sad song. Oh and Have you Forgotten isn't meant to be sad, it is meant to get you ANGRY, which is a different emotion. It is trying to get you MAD that people HAVE forgotten and trying to remind them and you. Also question 3 Wooden crosses being sad. Yeah sad those people died in a wreck but the point of the story was supposed to be about HIS MOTHER who would have been the 4th Cross.
All these Years by Sawyer Brown(also it leaves what happens open it is sad in the view of a relationship that has wasted years and they just suddenly figure it out)
Have to agree also with that You don't even know who I am
The Car by Jeff Carson(the father and son's relationship is somewhat happy of a song but sad by how it is)
Wasted Time by Confederate Railroad(off Unleashed, not released as a single)
They don't understand by Sawyer Brown
Oh and Hurt by Johnny Cash(have to really put his life into it as he did singing it)
