I have a 30 gallan fish aquarium and I filled it with hose water. Should I put the fish in right away or should i wait until the chlorine evaporates? The water smells like bleach and the tank has little bubbles.

Hose water and tap water are the same thing so no need to dump out the tank. The tank should have a filter and heater running once you fill it. Allow it to set this way until the temperature is ok for your fish or until 24 hours has passed. This will also allow time for the chlorine to dissipate from the water. The little bubbles are from various gases, including chlorine gas moving out of the water. Here's a little "quick start" guide for aquariums, take a couple of minutes to read it and it will help you and your fish a lot!

You need to use a declorinator - I like prime best - then you need to wait a minimum of 72 hours. Then you either need to use a cycling product - stability is my fav - and follow the directions on the bottle, or get one small hardy fish to use to cycle the tank - this takes about 4 weeks, and then you don't want to add any more until you ammonia is at 0 ppm. I prefer the cycle in a bottle - Stability - you can add fish sooner and I haven't had a death yet in my 55 gallon tank that I used this in when I set it up 5 months ago.

Pet stores always say let the water sit 24 hours to let it chlorine dissipate and so that the water becomes room temp. I dunno if that rule works for 30 gallons of water.

But ya know what? I don't follow that rule. I just say "F" it and just put the fish in the water right away anyway . It's never killed my fish, my frogs, my newt, my snails, or my turtles...

Well. Empty it out and fill it with tap water. Then get little chlorine droplets and put them in. Leave for 24 hours then put the fish in. You should have done this before getting the fish. Leaving them in bags too long will kill them

You should wait becasue the bleach might affect the fish.
