I finished breastfeeding 3 weeks ago today and still haven't gotten a period? I was just wondering if this is normal or not? Should I be calling my doctor or just wait it out? Before my pregnancy I was VERY regular and don't remember waiting this long after finishing breastfeeding my first born. Anyone else wait this long?
Any advice would be great thanks!!!

I went almost 3 months after nursing my youngest before starting my cycle again. I think that unless you think you might be pregnant then I wouldn't worry about it.
Good Luck and God Bless

I was VERY regular before I had my daughter a year ago. When I had her I only breastfed her for a couple of weeks because she didn't take to it. I had one regular period after that and then it was another two months before I had another one. It took me another 6-8 months before I got on a regular cycle. I was so nervous I took a pregnancy test, but it was negative. It talked to my doctor and she said it was very normal and it can take up to a year to get regular.

It's been awhile since I was in that situation, but I think it took a couple of months after I stopped breastfeeding to get my period again. But, if there's a chance you are pregnant, take a test, just in case.

You have a period about 2 weeks after you ovulate. It may have taken a couple of weeks for you to ovulate, so that would delay things even more. If you dont get your period within a month, then go see a doctor, but as of yet, it's not late.

I would expect that your period won't be as regular as it was for a short time. Doctors & Pediatricians work for you and we pay them quite well, so don't hesitate to ask. Note that you can become pregnant during this time (though rare). I would imagine that doctors would say to wait for a full cycle length before they would need to see you, but that's just a guess. Meanwhile, enjoy it! :)

Its normal. But if you don't get it within 2-3 weeks call your doctor. Maybe you should talk to a nurse now just to make sure.

Congrats on the baby!

im breast feeding now after five weeks and have not gottne a normal period. like one day of bleeding, and that was it. some spotting here and there but no period. I went to my doc today for my postpartum check up, and everything was cool.
so when you are exclusively nursing, this can happen.

Your body is adjusting to the hormonal changes so give it some time. However, just call your doctor to make sure that everything is okay!

It can take a few months for your hormones to return to normal. I would contact your doctor if your cycle hasn't returned after another month, but give your body a chance to regulate itself.
