I'd check the 6400, very similar to the 1501 but intel instead amd. Same price as the smaller screen 640m. Similar to the disc 1505. Best bang for the buck. If you dont need it right away, wait till July, there will be price wars of ALL brands, not just Dell, although dell usually is one of the top brands for tech upport and for value for the dollar. And intel will drop prices on july 22

I like the Inspiron1501 with it's AMD CPU, but I have to love the 640m because of Windows XP Pro! XP Pro gives you the whole operating system. Home is just a watered down version of XP. I'd say go with the 640m but I think you'd be happy with either one.

Remember that you can't upgrade the Video in the future and both video options suck. The 640M is the better machine.
I suggest that you look at the E1505 a better and highly rated machine.
Dell is currently having a 23% off sale on some machines. Take care.

The $907.61 computer has more hard drive storage space. and a newer operating system you can never have too much available space on a hard drive the way things are going these days the online gaming that you pay a subscription fee to is becoming standard. the average hadr drive space requiment's are about 3.5 to 6.25 available gigabytes of "free" space to install the needed files onto. for a compact let alone full size install.

The 640m. It has XP Pro, instead of Home, and the hard drive is larger.
