Drew Tate was just far too short. He's a Doug Flutie type.
Drew Stanton saw his production drop off considerably his senior year. He also had injury concerns.
Tyler Palko came from Pittsburgh, and was considered a prospect with a high upside, but he played terrible in the senior bowl, and it destroyed any chance he had of being drafted early.
Kevin Kolb went to Houston and was very productive. The problem with Kolb was that he is considered a "system" quarterback. Many of the quarterbacks to come from Houston have been busts in the NFL.
John Beck has similar problems to Kolb. He also had great college production, but was in a passing system at BYU. He also had some ankle concerns. He is a little short at 6-2, and is also 25 years old.
Trent Edwards was highly regarded coming out of high school, like Brady Quinn. He turned down better football programs to go to Stanford. This was a big mistake because he was put on a team with little to no talent. He also had huge injury concerns. Stanford went 1-11 I believe this year with him at QB.

Drew Tate was injury prone and didn't really produce against any decent competition.
Stanton was was just an erratic passer. All over the place mostly to the defenders.
Palko I don't know about but Pittsburgh didn't make much noise with a descent amount of players who got drafted so he can't be too good.
Kevin Kolb did nothing his senior year when he was supposed to produce. Plus the competition Houston faces is anything but elite and he didn't even show he could be elite among them.
John Beck is good. I like him alot. Its just that hes not exactly physically gifted which scares alot of nfl teams. Hes smart but does not have a very strong arm. I think he'll do wel in Miami under Cam Cameran.
Trent Edwards. A nobody. Bad competition in college he was bad against. Then again he didnt really have anyone on his team but still. He really made no noise.

Drew Tate is smallish...He weighed 192 as a senior. They are afraid he can't take a beating....
Drew Stanton...I couldn't find anything but a major knee injury.
Tyler Palko- Although he is a Pa QB...he is smallish and over analyses plays and situations.
Kevin Kolb- a product of the Houston, and labeled a system QB. The wide open attack and number of passes he has thrown somehow is thought to increase his production.
Trent Edwards- Sucked a lot in college playing behind bad offensive lines. Took the blame for his poor play. Was injured a lot in college...so that might have hindered his upside. He also is said to be stiff while running...and in the New NFL QB's have to be a little mobile.

Tate had an off year, Stanton is not first round caliber, Kolb went early second round (and may start in Philadelphia if Donovan is traded), and the others were late second round at best. None of the group (except Kolb and Beck) will be franchise QBs. The rest will be decent backups or mediocre starters at best.

unless a qb is a spectacular talent it is not a smart move to draft him in the first round. first round qbs have extra pressure put on them, are expected to start very soon, and get paid a lot more money. all of the above were good qbs in college and will probably have pretty decent NFL career (give the right situation) but there was no reason to draft them if they would be available later on. all of these guys will be given at least a year if not more to sit and learn the system and will be better off for it. also, most teams did not have a pressing need at qb and it is very common now to draft the position you need the most, not the best available player.

tate is simply put, too short for the nfl
stanton has been inconsistent throughout his time at michigan state, and has had injury concerns as well
palko has shown a lot of upside, but is not a refined passer and tries to create big plays too often
kolb is a very good quarterback, but he played in an extremely funky offense in college and there is concern about his ability in a pro-style offense
beck is already 26 years old as a result of his mormon mission from his time at byu, and he played in a spread offense in college, as well as having some injury trouble
edwards played for a horrible team which was behind often and inflated his passing numbers, and he has also been hurt often

Simple, nothing was wrong with them, but honestly... who wanted a QB other than Detroit, Cleveland, and Kansas City?
All the other teams accepted how it was with their QB's. Also, keep in mind that the first round isn't always where stars are born.

Not all QBs are the same in the NFL
its a completely different game, why? i dont know, nobody really knows why people who are great in college wont arent good in the NFL and people that arent THAT good in college are OUTSTANDING in the NFL, thats just how it works. it always will be like that...more great NCAA QBs wont be insane in the NFL

Because they are all system QB's. The system they were in made them good, most pro teams want to see QB's that are durable and capable of fitting any system.
