Two big ones.

The North had a much larger industrial base. That means the supply line was almost unlimited, especially since there wasn't much fighting in the North. More guns, more ammo, more food, more of almost everything. That's a big help over four years.

Meanwhile, the South was starting from scratch. It takes a while to get everything up and running, and there are always mistakes in start-ups.

The South probably had more passion for its cause among the people, and that was important in stretching out the length of the war. But there was no way to win a war of attrition.

The North's reason for combating for the 1st 2, and all the years of the Civil conflict, replaced into the suppression of the insurrection. the north was more industrial and also had more farms-nicknamed wheat kingdom-while the south had more plantions-cotton kingdom
During the period of the civil war the south believed they would get help from the british because britain during this period was in a depression-but as it turns out wheat was more vital then cotton therefore the british sided with the north-the north also had a exponential amount of troops due to the massive amounts of immigrants living in New York in particuler-while the south had less troops-North also had more railroads vital for the transport of goods-these factors together helped contribute to the Union Victory

They wore shoes, therefore they didn't have as many cases of hookworms, like the south.
