i had to deal with a bunch of people like that. they get a kick out of it. to be in control to boss people around, knowing that is the only place they can do that. Or they be trying to show off in front of their date. They should leave a big tip instead

Well, I am actually finally getting out of the waitress game in a few weeks. I've done it for ten years, I must admit I am going to miss it. I love people most of the time but sometimes you get some jerk at your table. All I have to say is that while I have never added anything "extra" to their meal, they have just given themselves the absolute minimum service that I can give them without giving them any reason to complain...I have a good memory too so the next time they come in they will be lucky to get their first round of drinks much less any refills... Listen, let me be honest here, I am pretty good at what I do, I have many tables that come in specifically for me to wait on them...If I'm there that is...I;m not trying to be wonder waitress here, but I'm not some jerk either. Ask me for anything you want, make me run if you need something, no problem, just try to be courteous about it!
But, aside from that, I went out ONCE with a friendly acquaintance, and some other friends, this guy was a jerk the whole time we were there, when we left I handed the waiter a $30 tip off of a $60 check and told him how sorry and embarrassed I was about the ignorance he had to endure while we were there. Later made sure the friend knew that that would be the last time I would be seen in public with him! And it was.

i dont appreciate the "white friends" comment because having been a server for the past 5 years i've seen my share of rude arrogant demanding a**holes and they come in all different types of races. Honestly i think people are like this because they dont know how hard it really is to be a server, they feel that all we do is take their order, but in reality that's not all we do. Working at an upscale restaurant, it is required that we follow about 9 steps of service for each table. This makes it extremely easy to get "weeded" (overwhelmed), keeping us from giving optimal service. But to answer your question, i dont know what gives people the right to think they can boss you around.

Honey, it doesn't make any difference what color you are, what religion you are, who your parents where, or even how much money you have. It all boils down to one thing.Their the customers and your their slave. What ever the customer wants, the customer is Always right! You are catering to them. It doesn't matter a rat's a--! There right, your the pee-on. Don't forget this as it's true. No matter what retail field your in.The customer is always right! Even if their sh-- heads! Mean to you. Your their slave, for the moment, their pee-on.Sorry to break this to you, but that's retail! Don't know why some people feel as though they are above others,I never did. If I go to the market, and pull something off the shelf, I always pull the next in line forward. That only takes me 1 second. It takes several hours to nicely face an aisle by an employee who has run out of time to finish their job to the managers satisfaction. I miss those days!

I waitressed for a few years and there were always people like that. Sometimes I think it's because they are cheap and want to justify not leaving a tip. Sometimes I think they needed to bully someone to feel better about themselves. It just makes them look trashy.

Hmmmm....I'm a little disturbed by the "some of my white friends" statement. I've known people of ALL colors who act like jerks that way and yes, they DO go out just to have a power trip and be a jerk and boss people around.

I'm sure there are, and I'm sure I've waited on them. Frankly, I pity people who have so little power in their lives that they have to bully others. And I pity their table mates who have to dine with them.

will make it all worthwhile!
It is people with your attitude that makes it worth the while
