Probably a bad day (week, month) at work to be asking me this question. I am a top exec at a company where this issue has been top of mind of late.............

Do most have them? Yes. In a post Enron era, Post the Sarbannes Oxley requirements, Compliance and Ethics programs are de rigeur.

Ahhh, enforcement. Interesting word. I'm going to say this: The answer is haphazard. Everything is about interpretation. Relationships. "That depends on what the definition of the word is is." kind of crap.

You can tell I'm a bit disillusioned tonight. My answer is: Its better than it used to be....but is has gone deeper underground. And the good ole boy network and support system still exists. They close ranks, they lie, they misrepresent. And they split hairs with definitions. Intent, honor, integrity, consistency................not so much.

I really need another Martini tonight, Sorry to be Debbie Downer.

No. By far, the majority of companies are very small (often, just one person like a consultant). But, most major corporations do have a code of ethics, and person responsible for reviewing cases, and enforcement protocols.

exciting question. The Code of Ethics might want to word to those persons that are already operating interior their personal inner code of ethics -- to illustrate kickbacks on revenues or employing companies that are pertaining to to someone yet no longer disclosing them or perhaps some thing so elementary as getting some thing for loose in case you spend $x at save Y yet preserving that merchandise for your self. In fairly some those circumstances, some gained't evaluate them "incorrect" and as such they have likely already discounted the agencies Code of Ethics rules considering that they sense it doesn't fairly word to them. Regards, M

Every company has its own code of Ethics. Most are stated in the employee handbook. Just read it carefully so you won't break any of the codes.

Yes and they are serious about them. But human nature dictates that the more powerful one becomes, the less likely such policies can be enforced so enforcement at the highest levels is lax.
