Is it discouraging you from answering my questions, or is it the fact that my questions are really stupid, doing it?

Your picture is disturbing, yes, because it isn't putting beauty into the world, or at least what most people think of as beauty, and it probably sends the wrong message so that people would not pick your questions to answer first and gives them the impression the questions are stupid. However, I don't know what your other questions were, so maybe they WERE stupid. But first impressions rule.

Yeah your pic is a little disturbing but not that horribly bad. It might discourage some people from answering your questions.

I think disturbing is great! Don't sweat it. People will answer what they want to answer, and they'll drop out when the don't. You can ask the same question one day and then three days later and you may get no answers the first time and 50 the next.
P.S. I just figured out who it reminds me of -- Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas.

No I'm not offended and judging by the 42 answers that were here when I started my answer, I will also guess no on the dicouraging issue.
I think you picture is rather arty and intriguing.

Creative artists always get that. I'm an artist and a writer as well. Wherever creative work goes, there is always a critic that follows. But I always say that it's easy to criticize and hard to create.
