According to my biology professor you can't have black hair. He said that when your hair looks black its because you have so much melanin. He said if you were to break it down you would in fact see that its not black at all. It made sense to me at the time he explained.

Yes of course there is. Most "black" hair is just extremely dark brown but some people do have jet black hair. There isnt anything such as black eyes.

yeah there is such thing as black hair. There also is such thing as REALLY dark brown hair that looks black. Chinese people mostly have black hair. I have alot of friends with like BLACK hair...its totally not brown!!!!

there's definitely black hair! look at an asian person's hair....it's jet black. even when people have hair that's super dark brown, you can still see that it's brown. but not with black hair...it's just black

There are two types of pigment that gives hair its color, eumelanin and phaeomelanin. Eumelanin is black, and pheomelanin is red. Everyone has pheomelanin in their hair. How dark the hair is depends on how much eumelanin is present. A low concentration of eumelanin in the hair will give blonde hair, more eumelanin will give it a brown color, and much higher amounts of eumelanin will result in black hair.
