For my school (thus, my country), a 2000 socre is great...nevertheless, i understand that US universities require higher scores; not only because english is your 1st language, but because you are used to that form of test.

Anyway, which is an good SAT score for Yale, MIT and Harvard?
And, will they put my situation in context?????

To be honest, I don't think you are competitive.

These schools receive many thousands of applications every year from the very best students in the world. Harvard alone had over 22,000 applications, according to a recent news article. But all three of these schools are quite small. They only enroll about 1500 students each. So, to be accepted you must have absolutely top credentials.

You have an advantage with your background being different from the typical student, but I dont think that will be enough.

You should really be looking at some other schools. If you check the US News Rankings online, there are 100 top schools listed under "National Universities" - all of those are excellent schools with good facilities, good faculty, and good students. Your chance of admission at many of those schools would be excellent. Pick a school based on where you want to be in the USA. Schools like Fordham, Tufts, Penn State, Virginia, etc are very different from each other and will give you some real choices about how you want your college life to be.

Truthfully, those universities aren't the beginning or end of your life. The name recognition is wonderful but being happy is even better. If you know what you want to do and are really good at it and love doing it P/H/Y/M won't matter that much. I went to one of those schools and really enjoyed my time there but 10 years in retrospect, I would have been just as happy other places just as well. Just make sure you are happy and love what you do. I wish you the best of luck but if it doesn't work out, don't stress it. Read "The Overachievers: The Secret Lives of Driven Kids (Hardcover) by Alexandra Robbins" Getting into those schools is like hitting the lottery even people with stellar academic records don't get in and people like George W do.

I would definatly apply. What country are you from? Usually colleges like to have a diverse community and since your Hispanic, you may have a better shot getting in. I agree with the last person that you should try to get in the 2100 range for your SAT at least. your SAT 2's are really good though. You may want to take the Math 1 exam as well if you hope to pursue some engieneering carear

You've got as good of a shot as any of us IF you get your SAT score up.. you must you must you must!
I know the SAT is hard, but kids at my school have gotten higher than 2000 freshman year!

EDIT:::
You actually have a better shot than I thought...I didnt see that you were Spanish. You still may want to get your SAT scores up higher than that.. as much as possible. Do realize however, at MIT, they have very stiff entrance requirements. I dont know them off the top of my head, but some include:Physics, Calculus, etc..

check MIT's website for the full list
