This is a basic algebra question. Learn the formula and you will do much better than just trying to get an answer.
N = Unknown value. In this case it's the %
1/2 = 0.5
is = "="
of = "X" or multiplications or times
/ = division sign
3.5 = n% X 5
Turn the equation around and it looks more like what you think of for math
5 X n% = 3.5
The formulae works like this.
Isolate what you don't know. In this case that is n%.
To isolate you do the opposite of the math that is shown. are are multiplying here so to isolate we divide, If we were adding we would subtract and vice versa.
5 X n% = 3.5
You have to do it on both sides of the equation... in this case:
5/5 X n% = 3.5 / 5
Now you have n% = 3.5 / 5
Now you can work it out yourself or you can (but shouldn't) use your calculator.
What if you were trying to find out :
3.5 = 70% X n
70% X n = 3.5
70% / 70% X n = 3.5 / 70%
n = 3.5 / 70%
n = 5
You can use this formulae of isolation for any equation where you have an single unknown not in the answer.

A wonderful teacher once taught me something I've never forgotten: Is divided by Of
In other words, take the number that is closest to the word "is" and divide it by the number that is closest to the word "of". In this case, that would be 3.5 divided by 5 which equals .7 or 70%
