I agree it's our money...but you go on to say they "give money away" in tax breaks. Wake up...not taking money is not the same as giving it away.
The big conglomerates employ most all of us...and not taking their money causes them to invest in more business.... dragging us all up with them.
Yes government...it's our money...keep your grubby hands off it!

The government is not the people. The government is a gang of robbers that steal the people's money and give it away to the politically powerful. Have you seen the Academy Award nominated movie the Aviator? It shows a Senator spewing rhetoric about the "public good" while he's working to help his (blueblood wealthy) friend monopolize an industry, harming the (self-made wealthy) main character. That's what the government always does, though the Democrats give some pocket change to the poor as well as all the subsidies for their blueblood friends.
There is nothing noble about the government at all. It is an organization that is anti-competition (anti-trust laws were originally passed by a congress that admitted that Standard Oil had cut oil prices, but suggested that it was wrong that any business should ever go out of business, even if unprofitable; Standard Oil would itself lose market share prior to its famous anti-trust case, just as Microsoft has lost market share since their anti-trust case), anti-poor (the Federal Reserve and IRS made it all-but-impossible to become a self-made businessman by stealing wealth and destroying the value of the money, benefitting rich people who already have their money), and anti-safety (every day the military remains in Iraq, Al-Qaida becomes stronger).
Government should not be collecting tax dollars. If we want a government, it should be run entirely on voluntary donations (if Ted Turner can donate millions to an anti-freedom and anti-peace organization such as the UN), wouldn't people be more than willing to voluntarily donate money to a government that respected freedom and spent its time going after crime (real crime, not vices)?
Left and Right are both wrong. We don't need a big government to begin with. We need (at the very least) the free society we inherited under the Constitution.

true the money is ours and the government takes it from us, but it is still not the federal governments job to provide anything in terms of social spending on anyone . the job of the federal government is 1) foreign relations,2)defense of the nation. it has evolved into something much more than that over a period of time. it is a shame they spend money like it's going out of style, and then want more on top of that to spend on other unnecessary stuff.

I think the govt. does a lot of good with our money, such as provide anti-terrorism organizations to protect us from terrorists and provide leadership for the country as a whole (sometimes). But too much of it goes to waste I agree. Spending it on illegal immigrants, losing wars, and big business tax breaks does nothing for ordinary people like you and me.

don't I know it.
I always wonder why I get such a poor return on investment, contributing over 40% of my earnings and getting only roads and civil services in return. If I could take advantage of handouts, I might come closer to breaking even, but generally would do better if I didn't have to support the lazy.

Interesting. Take a Conservative viewpoint and make it socialist.
Yes, it is our government and our money, and they work for us. We do not work for them, and they should keep their hands out of our pockets. And some of us do not want their help.
