I have seen several sites, but I will not list them here. Some of the sites do not let you keep your copyright on your stories, so be very careful. In any event, make sure before you submit anything that you do a personal copyright on the material. It would be a shame to spend all the time on a story and then see it under someone else's name or lose it to an on line publisher. (Make a copy of your story, seal it in an envelope and send it to yourself prior to submitting it. When you receive the letter back, DO NOT open it. This was once enough for a personal copyright and will still hold up legally.)

You can submit prose, poetry, etc. onto deviantart.com, but it doesn't usually seem to get a lot of attention. But they don't hold any claim to your stories, and you keep your copyright.
But, if you are a really good writer, than people may notice you. The best way to get noticed is to search deviantART for people who also write, especially about similair things, comment on their works, and watch them. Plus, you'd get to read some nice stories in the process.
Don't think you have to stick to one place, by the way. You can submit your work to multiple sites.

There are many areas for you to post your short stories. Simply, go to google.com and type in "writers forums." Pick one or two that publish the kind of work you write.
You can also start up your own blog and post your short stories. Right here on Yahoo is 360. There is also blogspot.com among others.

If I have been you i would not placed it on the internet, cuz somebody might scouse borrow it. right here is what you could attempt. Get a team of those which you recognize and e mail them the story to make certain, then ask for feedback, this is plenty safer.
