A baby can teeth any time. I have friends that gave birth to a baby with teeth already! Amazing I know. My son who jus turned 1 got his first tooth around 8 months. We thought it was coming in earlier around 4 months, but he was just drooling and biting everything just to do it hahaha. Your baby could be teething, but don't be alarmed or worried is he or she isn't just yet... the teeth will come eventually

Talk to your doctor for reassurance, but you should know that babies can not only begin teething early but they can actually be born with teeth! I don't know that there is an exact timeframe for teething - just that it is different for everyone.
Is your baby teething? The drool can be from teething or it could just be drool. Feel inside your baby's mouth by rubbing the gums (and even the roof of the mouth - they can be growing in the wrong place) gently. It is likely that the teeth are not yet "cutting" through, so you wont feel anything sharp - but you just might feel tooth buds (little skin covered nubs that pop out of the gums that the teeth come out of). If you do not feel either tooth buds or a tooth, then it is likely that they are not teething. While you are feeling around in there you can take a wet wash cloth and (with a small bit of it) gently wipe down the gums and tongue - cleaning off milk/formula and sugars. This is a good way to begin early dental hygiene (they wont need toothpaste etc until they are much older).

The age that babies start getting teeth varies so much. 1 in 1000 babies are actually born with teeth. The average age though is around 8 months. I know people whose babies got teeth at just 4 months and others whose babies didn't get teeth until after 12 months. However, it just sounds like your baby is being a typical baby. Just because your baby is drooling a lot and gumming his fingers doesn't mean he is about to get teeth. Lots of babies drool and chew on their fingers for reasons other than teething. Chances are he won't teeth for another few months.

The answer is immediately. My oldest sister was born with a tooth! Drooling and gumming aren't necessarily signs of teething. My daughter probably started doing what you're describing at around 3 months, but at 6 months there are no signs of teeth to come.
To see if your baby is teething, look into his mouth. Look for raised red bumps under the gums or white teeth beneath the skin that are waiting to come up.
Some babies are born with teeth or get teeth in their first few months, while others don't get their first tooth until after their first year.

In some rare cases children can be born with teeth, but usually children start teething anywhere between three months and a year or later. Teething can take a long time. My daughter was four months old when she started drooling a ton and she didn't get her first tooth until nine months old. The average age when a child gets the first tooth is eight months old. Most children have four teeth by their first birthday, but it is not uncommon for a child to have no teeth on the first birthday.

My son started teething at 21/2 months. Our pediatrician actually told me that he was teething. At three months he was in full force, drooling and biting his fist. He is 4 months now and today the pediatrician looked in his mouth and said he saw teeth!!! They haven't come through all the way but they are very close. Don't feel bad either. I am a first time mom too and I ask all kinds of questions...I say if you don't know ask!!! Welcome to the lovely time of teething!! =)

Did you know that babies are sometimes born with teeth! At that age, they have to be removed because of risk of swallowing and choking on them. My son is currently four-months old, and I can see his teeth begining to poke through. He's been drooling like crazy and sucking on his hands a lot too! He's been doing it ever since about Easter (April 8th). And it takes some babies a long time to get their teeth in. It just is a little hard at this young age for them to teethe, because they are too small for the teetheing rings, and so all they can do is suck on their hands and fingers!

Some children are born with teeth. A child can break one through at any time. Signs of fussiness and placing things in the mouth with excessive drool are not always an indicator of teeth, just in case that is why you think they are teething. :)

My children started showing signs at the age of 3 months... So i feel for you... The best trick that I used was a wash cloth. Wet the corner and stick it in the freezer for just a little bit and then let your child naw on it... If that doesn't work try a teething ring or maybe even a popsicle. Good luck and best wishes!!!
