Yes.The majority of the bad news in the actual world are related to religion intolerance. Religion is probably a good idea with a very wrong administration.

I think the world would be safer if people relied more on faith and less on organized religion...I do not believe religion is a bad thing but I do believe there are people who have corrupted some of the more organized parts of it.
I say this as a Christian not to bash because I do believe in God...

Yes. Think about it. Most wars and battles are faught over a persons religion. If everyone could just live on faith alone, and not religion, then the world would be a much safer and peaceful place.

Religion gives one a higher reference point than ones self.
All religions have their equivalence of the 10 commandments. The trouble comes up when practicer of any religion forgets that most of the commandments deal with how one interacts with his fellow humans. Some think only their sect of their religion is going to heaven. It appears they are saying I love my fellow man so much & want to be with him on the otherside that I'm willing to kill him to get him to convert. Is a bit wierd!
By the way even if there wasn't a GOD mankind would create one. Look at how many religions were nothing more than a statue made by men. In other words this planet will always have religion wheather God is real or not.

Safer yes. Because alot of the problems in the world are religion based. I think that people should have faith in something but not necessarily a religion to compare to other people. No one is right, and no one is wrong. But alot of people fight about it because they think they are right. I have not seen any proof either way. Which is why I hate people who fight about religion.

No because people still find ways to be destructive. instead of wars for religion, we have wars about nationalism or some other ideology. I think the world would be safer without humankind.

I think the question should be changed to "Would Government be Safer Without Religion?" Certainly the government created by the Founding Fathers was based upon the principles of faith, but did not advocate religion being a part of national policy. Thomas Jefferson believed that a "wall" should be erected between government and religion.
Throughout history, wars have been fought in the name of religion. The Crusade was started for religious reasons, and even the Russian Revolution was a rebellion against religion and the heirarchy. People have been tortured on the rack in the name of religion. They have been cast into dungeons in the name of religion. Religion has frequently run amok, as in Jonestown. King Henry VIII changed religion, so he could marry his lover. Some religions are treated with contempt, as is Scientology and, in some historical instances, the Mormon faith.
We are currently in a War that has religious undertones. It is a part of the Middle Eastern Crusade encouraged by some Evangelical people, aimed at giving Biblical lands back to the Jewish people. Then, they believe, the Second Coming of Christ will take place.
Whether or not you believe this interpretation of Biblical Prophecy, it is a considerable basis for the enthusiasm of the Bush Base, those people who encourage war in the "Axis of Evil" and stand beside Bush in his decisions.
According to George Bush, he spoke to God about entering into Shock & Awe, and evidently felt that God approved his actions. To those of us who do not believe God would ever approve a war, this is somewhat disconcerting.
I think religion has a definite place in the world and, in our country, we are free to believe as we choose. But, even here, with the treatment of Gays and the Poor, it is easy to see that one group of people is putting their beliefs before the equality guarranteed us in our Constitution.
So, in summation, I believe in Freedom of Religion, but I strongly believe in the Separation of Church & State. I resent my tax money going to Faith Based Organizations with no oversight on how many poor people are being helped or how this money is being spent. I resent churches that preach politics and advocate war.
Would the world be safer without religion? Probably so. But we would be a lot safer if religions were satisfied with saving souls and spreading the Word without trying to promote a land that lives by their religious rules, leaving other beliefs with no voice at all.

If Religion has no Facts then why do so many people believe in god?
Also there could never be a world of no religion because there would be no world.
Science might have created the world, but what makes what do what?
I mean why is it that we are not different from rocks? or Trees?
Why do we breathe and our bodies function as they do and who created science.
GOD.
If you are a godless Atheist then enjoy burning in your pit for all eternity after the final battle, I'll be living it up with Jesus and god.

No.All religions advocate love and respect for their fellow men.If anybody who says otherwise about my reasons are entitled to their opinions but are probably guided or misguided by misrepresentation and apprehension of their basic tenets.Unscrupulous, dishonest and selfish people and organisations deliberately misinterpret religion to suit their personal agendas or bigotry for mileage, popularity and material gain.Religions do not create fear, people do.
Me,Too : I also believe that state should be seperated from religion but everyone is entitled to his beliefs.

People are always going to fight over natural resources - land, oil, water...etc, etc. Religion is usually just the recruiting tool for these wars for resources. I'm sure if there were no religion, people would be recruited using something else.
