I, for many years believed that asking for help was the same as begging. It was an issue of pride, believing the values to stand on my own two feet.
My pride stopped me asking for help and yet if and when someone asked me for help I would give my all to help them.
Recognising the detriment to my own welfare and state of health, I am still declined to ask but yet will give my all to help others. I will not ask, neither will I beg.

Begging is included in the larger canvas of asking for help. A destitute begging for some food to alleviate hunger is asking for help to mitigate the problem.
Habitual begging is offensive. It is a kind of imposition and emotional black mail. It can degenerate into a form of making a living.
If this is the kind of thing that is intended in the question, then it cannot be classified as a genuine call for help.

It depends on the situation, the person, the vocal intonation and interpretation doesn't it? It's really pretty subjective I would think ie if a friend or family member asked for money you would be more likely to look on it as offering help. If a homeless person asks for money or food you would call it begging but, for them, it would be a request for help.

depends if your sitting on the street with a begging bowl or flogging the new issue thats classed as begging or if you contact someone youve never met for cash just cos you know they have it.On the other hand if you ask a relitive or friend for a loan until you get back on your feet and you mean to repay it then i class this as asking for help as they know you and can judge your character and can tell that its help you definetly need (dosnt say youll get it though)

Begging is a form of entreaty, more of an urgent plea, rather than a request or "asking for help." It is perfectly alright to ask for help; actually begging is okay, too, but humiliating!

no!
Asking for help, is when you have decided to do something for yourself or maybe someone else in order to get a desired outcome, but cant quite do it by yourself so you ask someone to help you, knowing that you have no immediate way of paying them back. it is on your conscience afterwards to decide whether to repay that favour at a later date. Asking for help, is like asking for trust.
Begging is when you are asking for something for nothing and have no intention of doing anything immediately to help yourself get out of the situation, that you have got yourself into. If you are begging you must be pretty desperate, as you want them to do something for you there and then.

technically, in the dictionary, they mean the exact same thing. In normal society, begging is repetitive, and usually annoying. But can be from someone who is really really desperate.

If you're sitting on the pavement asking for money, then yes - otherwise, no. Asking for help is sensible, valid and people always have the opportunity to say no.
