It's the Iron Curtain. Here's a picture of it:

Here's the proof:

The massive wall of concrete blocks divided the city of Berlin in half, and provided a physical symbol of the Iron Curtain.

I heared there were golden facades (front of the building, without a building behind it) in berlin; so you could see what splendour there was on the other side. Couldn't find a confirmation.
