I think it was Sawyer. If you recall Jack was the only one who was there (last season he told Jack that he was his only friend) and Jack thought Kate might want to know.

I agree with the others about how the coffin was too small to be someone like Sawyer or Locke, its a funeral Kate would not go to but also a african american dominant community. Maybe it's Michael or Walt!! Explains why no one was there, Walt's mom already passed and no one liked Michael for leaving them and turning Jack, Sawyer and Kate in to Ben??? Probably Michael!

the only person that comes to mind is Juliet b/c she betrayed everyone in the "others" so no one would come to the funeral from the "others" and if you think about it... the only person that really knew here from the survivor side was jack. so Kate would have not gone to it.
But another thing about Juliet is that she had a sister that would have probably have gone if she is still alive, b/c we do know that she was fighting death from that pregnancy.
another thing about some of you people that were thinking it was Walt. don't you think someone from his family would have been there? his dad? his step dad maybe even though he doesn't really want him after his mom died... but anyway there would be someone there for Walt.

I believe it is Ben. Ben it taken from the island since he is the leader and Jack wants him off when they are rescued to punish Ben from the island but realizes that Ben was right and that it was a mistake to leave the island. Ben kills himself and Jack loses hope in getting back to the island. This is why nobody is at Ben's funeral since nobody knows him in the outside world.

It was pretty obvious that Jack went to a funeral parlor in a predominantly African American community. Being that the coffin was "short" as someone said, I am wondering if it was "Walt".....I don't know, but I love the show, just as you start to "get it" and think you know.....poof, something else happens.......great show!

no idea....but he was pretty upset..i think who ever was in the coffin probably had somtin to do mwith that newspaper article...y would u think it was Ben? jack hates ben....and another question....who was the guy kat6e was talkin about when she said he'll be wondering where i am...that could be sawyer...idk

Ben...that's why Jack was so emotional at the end, he was second guessing his decision to leave the island and thinking about what ben told him about naomi's people.

I am guessing Sawyer for some reason it just was so confusing but someone important because it made him almost commit suicide
