I know I don't really need to go to collage, but I want to. What do you think is an appropriate amount of years to go to collage to become a very accomplished writer? Please, no none, or zero answers. Thanks!

I agree with JellyBean. A bachelor's degree (four years) in English literature with lots of creative writing and a minor in Journalism is a good choice. If you continue on to a Master's (another one to two years), get a Master's in Creative Writing or English literature and take some education classes as well. With that mix, you would have the qualifications to be a journalist or a teacher as well as a writer. You would have lots of job opportunities.

I think that a Bachelor's degree in English with an emphasis in creative writing, or Journalism would be an excellent start. This would take at least 4 years, just like any other undergraduate degree. Many writers start out as journalists, and it is a good career to provide for you before your writing makes you money.

In my uneducated opinion as a chemist, not a writer, I think that going to a master's or PhD would be too much. Those programs are mainly going to be preparing you for an academic career as a teacher or professor.
