The public IP address you receive from you ISP is usually under a lease time period. Usually a few hours. So even if you restart your router or computer, you will more than likely retain the same "leased" IP address.

If you are worried about security, make sure you are using so sort of broadband router. It will act as a firewall and block any incoming attempts to attack your computer.

Second step would be to download a spy/ad ware remover. (spybot search and destroy - www.download.com). That should cover you.

If you are hoping that changing IP addresses will make you annoymous, it will not. ISP's keep a log of what IP addresses are assigned to certain modems over a 30 day period.

It relies upon on what variety of connection which you have and who your provider is. some carriers on some connections grant an eternal ip handle. some carriers on some connections grant a dynamic handle. With the dynamic handle once you turn off the modem, then the hire to that handle is reset so once you turn it back on you will get a clean handle. that may not a topic often. the only time you will might desire to understand what the ip handle is would be once you may desire to tell somebody so which you will connect with them for a activity or something.

but try this.

go to start - run
type in "cmd"
and hit enter
Then type ipconfig/release
it should show a bunch of zeros.

Then type ipconfig/renew.

if that doesnt do it, im sorry, i dont know any other way.

EDIT: try using an internet anonymizing website such as kproxy.com or proxify.com
