~If you're going to do it on foot, Antarctica, mainly because you'll be dead before you make it.

The old professor says: As others have noted, it depends on your mode of transportation. My choice is Antarctica for several reasons (for one, I've been there). To go from east to west there would probably mean start at the IDL or zero meridian and circumnavigate the continent along its coastline. If you went by air, it would be quite a trip...probably equal to that of Asia. If you went by rail or automobile, you would never make it in a whole life time...since there are not circum-antarctic railroads or paths, or highways. But, on the other hand, at one foot away from the geographic pole you could do the whole trip from east to west in a second or two.

The one that is the widest from east to west, of course.
My guess is Asia, but every continent has narrower and wider areas, so you could find a part of Asia that is narrower than say South America.

I'd go with Asia.
Trying to cross the continent, you'd have to go through areas of freezing cold, deserts, mountain ranges, rainforests, swamps, steppes etc.(Try packing for all that in your backpack).

And that's just the physical environment. Throw in warring nations, political unrest, language difficulties, disease and wild animals etc and it'd be a miracle for someone to make it across Asia.

There'd be areas accessible only by yak, or horses or four-wheel drive or boat or by foot. And if you need a helicopter to come rescue you, it'd probably not be granted clearance or shot down. (You're not going to have to worry about that in the Antarctic.)

So if you just want to go by distance,it's Asia.
If people want to consider other factors such as degree of difficulty, I'd still say Asia.

Eurasia, if you're talking about landmass. If you want the traditional seven continents, then just Asia. I can't say for certain about Antarctica though!
