MERLE HAGGARD! I heard that ROBERT DUVALL IS SUPPOSE TO PLAY MERLE (not sure who's gonna play young Merle) AND THE BLACK GUY FROM "HUSTLE AND FLOW" IS SUPPOSE TO PLAY CHARLEY PRIDE! I'M JUST CURIOUS TO KNOW IF YOU AGREE WITH THESE CHOICES OR NOT! WHO WOULD YOU CHOOSE?

Terrence Howard would be an excellent choice for Charley Pride. He looks at least as much like him as Joaquim Phoenix looks like Johnny Cash, and he's a top-notch actor (check him out in Crash).

Robert Duvall's one of my favorite actors, but isn't he about the same age that Haggard is now? Considering that most of Hag's story would be when he was still a fairly young man, I would think playing "Haggard at age 25-40" would be the main role of the movie. I could see Josh Lucas or Heath Ledger pulling it off.

I heard a rumor about the Merle Haggard movie a few months back and I was so excited I almost wet myself!! I can't wait!!! And of course, Robert Duvall would be the absolute best choice in my opinion. (Did you see him in "Tender Mercies"? He was awesome!!)

I don't know the "Hustle and Flow" guy, but I do know that even the slightest consideration of that Cowboy Troy idiot playing Charley Pride's part would be a total disgrace to Charley Pride and the man, the musician, that he is. Surely to God they'll have more sense than that!!

This is cool! Charley Pride has a huge story to tell!!
Like when people would walk out on his shows because he is black. This is why I got to see him so much up here in Oregon lol! He opened the doors to many great singers we would not be today if he did not have the courage to go where others would not!
As for Haggard, he has some secrets in his closet, wonder if some of them will come out??
Do you know if these are going to be endorsed by Pride and Haggard? Since of course they are still kicking the last thing I heard anyhoo lol!

Duvall has done music related stories before and did a good job and is one of my favorite actors, he does a great cowboy!. Ya I wonder who will do the young thug Haggard??

I have no clue what Hustle and Flow is so ........

This is the first I've heard of the movies! Robert Duvall is a great actor so I think that is a good match. Too bad Merle couldn't play his own part. I seen a rerun of The Waltons a couple weeks ago and he was in it. Playing guitar with Jason.
Never seen Hustle and Flow, but whoever has the part hopefully has a great smile.
Looking forward to the shows.

Robert Duvall will make an excellent Merle. Don't know the guy from hustle & flow. I hope he does Charlie justice.

I was really disappointed with the two who played Johnnie Cash & June Carter Cash. Neither of them came remotely close to doing justice there.

As long as the films do justice to the contributions of Charley Pride and Merle Haggard, I'll be fine with whoever plays them.

Both country greats, vastly better than the pack of bozos who sing the "twangy-pop" that passes for country music today.

I think Robert Duvall would do Merle justice, but isn't he about the same age as Merle? I suppose with make up they could make him look younger. I don't watch movies and very seldom watch TV so I don't really know anyone that could fill Charlies shoes. Danny Glover maybe?

Haven't heard about these movies but glad to hear they're being made. I'd also like to see one about the late & great Freddy Fender. I actually met him playing in a bar in Nashville back in the early 80's.

Does my ring damage your Finger is my style one. i love Millers Cave. in basic terms between you and Me. and evidently Crstal Chandeliers. and evidently, Snakes crawl at nighttime. Charley has a tender voice, he's a specific 2d to Jim Reeves in my e book for smoothest voice!
