It's only a good idea for the democrats. They know that historically, uneducated, gullible immigrants will vote democratic because that party shamelessly entices people with promises they never intend to keep.
Citizenship in a country is like picking players on a football team. You want the best, most talented, most compatible people.
Getting citizenship can be compared to the NFL draft. The United States has the first round draft choice. But instead of choosing the top-notch college athlete to enable our team to win, we are letting the water boy join the team. How are we supposed to prevail competitively on a global scale with this type of insanity?
We could be granting citizenship to highly-educated, financially secure Europeans who are able to make substantial contributions to our economy and our world-wide competitive stance in business, but instead we're letting in people who (in such large numbers) are just a drain on the economy.
Remember, the U.S. is just like the team that has the first round NFL draft choice. Why are we throwing that away?

I'm not certain they're all "uneducated" but I don't doubt if computers had been available then that people would have asked that same question when the Italians, Jews, Irish, Cubans, Puerto Ricans, Poles, Russians, Germans, Swedes, Laotians, and Vietnamese came here.
Bet the Native Americans thought the same thing everytime they saw the forests chopped down and fenced off, and the immense herds of buffalo slain "for sport"
By the way--I am very much against illegals coming into the country and sending money back home.

Uneducated doesn't mean worthless or lazy. If everyone had a college degree and wanted "more," who would sustain this country?
