No. Closed means ONLY those registered in a particular party can vote in that primary.

Any registered voter can vote in the general election (that means ANY election for actual office). In a closed primary state, you can only vote in the primary of the party in which you are registered. Some, but not all states allow you to change your registration at the polls on the day of the primary.

To the first two answers: There is no such thing as a primary for independent candidates. They run without party baking, so they don't need to win the baking of their party.

i think of that's a honest gadget. otherwise, anybody might sign in as an "Independant" and that they conflict to sway the vote of the occasion they do no longer want to be certain get elected. think of this. The Republican thinking varieties might sign in as Independants. while the primaries roll around, they might vote in the Democratic regularly occurring for the candidate they have been helpful that no person might vote for in the final election (like Al Sharpton).

You can't vote in the primary (unless there's multiple Ind candidates), but you can vote in the Pres. election.
