My best answer is that I am always trying to figure things out, find the logic that makes life understandable. Truth is, I wish I knew.
Here's the start of a poem I began in college, and never finished, because I still haven't figured out the answer to your question:

Have you ever tried to conquer the known galaxy? With all the proper planning and preparations...a potato has to meditate and think on such things at length before jumping into action...other wise I'll get my scallops fried! :)
