Absolutely not. I'm 28 years old, a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who's still trying to succeed in my music career. It's really hard but don't give up. You might finally get the break you're looking for.

No doubt most labels want young talent so they can maximize earnings over the longest possible career. But putting a number on "the cutoff point" is crazy because there are exceptions. Gretchen Wilson made it at 40... Definitely relocate. Sending off a demo in the mail might work if you're C. Aguillera level but more likely they'll just toss it in the trash without a listen. Move to L.A. or Nashville, hook up with a studio there such as Nashville Trax or L.A. Sound or some other studio team who knows what goes, has connections in the scene there and cut a 3 song demo using tunes from song publishers. Then give it all you have in terms of getting out and playing live, networking, etc. The cream rises to the top.

No its not too old, when you are older you have your head on straight and you're not all caught up in the glamour of the business. You are never to do anything if you got the talent to back it up. Listen to your heart, haters will hate because they wish they were you. So do you!!!

IF YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES........
YOU'RE NEVER TO OLD TO GET INTO THE MUSIC BUSINESS.

Getting into the business is the most difficult aspect of it.

Good luck, and hope you make your dreams come true!

no. 50 cent started out when he was around that age. Many people in r&b/rap become more famous until they get older, so if you got some good music, get into it now!!
