It should not be sticking out. You need to push it in further than that. Read the instructions on the pamphlet in the package to get the info you need. It doesnt hurt to take out - just pull the string. Good luck. Have a happy period!

If its hanging out, its not in far enough and is going to be uncomfortable. It should go in as far as the knuckle on your finger. Your vagina is about 3 - 3 1/2 " deep (when not having sex) and you want it to sit near the top of that. If it is in place properly you shouldn't be able to feel it at all.
To take it out might be painful as it is dry, so I would try pushing it further in. Did you leave the string hanging out? Then once it is in place, when you go to the toilet each time, give the string a gentle pull. When moist enough it will slide out fairly easily. Don't leave it in for more than 6 hours though. If its more than six hours and you need it out but its still too dry, moisten it with some water (You may want to sit in a bath, or just put the water there with a cloth or something) to remove it.
Good luck.

no the tip is not supposed to be sticking out at all.
it shouldn't be too uncomfortable, but you are probably going to be able to feel it when you put it in the first time
here is some directions on which tampons to buy, and how to put the tampon in ")
use the tampax pearl lights..i know that they're expensive because you have to buy them in the multi-pack but they're way easier to use and they glide in really well. to actually put it in, try sitting down on the toilet or standing with one foot on the toilet seat(this way your vaginal passageway is more open) then you can use your finger to feel where the hole is and then you stick your tampon in. don't be tense, because it won't go in(you can actually push a tampon out of your vagina when its in) so just breathe normally and slowly shove it up there gently. it is in all the way if your fingers that are holding the base of the applicator are touching the vagina skin. if it doesn't go in all the way then you can push it up with your finger or take it out and try again. it might take a while to get the hang of it but basically you just have to get used to the motions!! :] good luck

The string needs to be hanging out so you can pull it out. Sounds like you put it in wrong. Taje it out and start over. Also you can use a little lubricant on it to help ease it in the first time. If it is one of those that don't come with an applicator like OB then just use your finger to gently push it up until you finger goes into your vagina a llittle ways and make sure you have that string hanging out to pull it out. If it comes with the applicator follow the instructions. you slide the applicator into your vagina until it goes all the way in and and then pull it out. Also leaving the string hanging. Good luck. It can be tricky at first. I suggest using the Junior tampons. They are smaller and easier.

Are you removing the applicator? An applicator is the plastic or cardboard thing around the actual tampon. There should only be a cotton-like substance inside of you with a string coming off of it.
All tampon boxes have inserts of directions on how to use that particular tampon. It may help to read this insert.

Your suppose to follow the directions that come in the box, to take it out relax, put your leg on the toliet an pull it out slowly. It feels wierd bc u have it in wrong. I dont see how u got it in backwards when the applicator points in the direction it suppose to go in. If u still have a probelm go back to to using pads.

take it out by pulling the string. it may be a little tight as it is dry but it will come out. it's not in properly.you shouldn't feel it at all. when you put a new one in,aimtowards the small of your back and put it all the way in. read the box, it helps.

ok you just didnt put it in far enough... it doesnt really hurt to take it out but if you just put it in and it is kinda dry it may be uncomfortable... just take that one out and the next one put in further... it only will go so far then slowly release it. when it is in right you should not feel it at all!! good luck n it will become second nature in no time at all!!

No you shouldnt feel it at all. or at least that much!!!! take the string and slowley pull it out. im not trying to be mean but if you dont know how to use one then dont! the end should not be sticking out its only the string from it that should be visable. Take it out immediately. you should read the instructions carefully to use it. It tells you how far to put it in. If its uncomfortable or your still a virgin dont use it. just use pads! also do NOT try to stick it in futher with your finger take it out and read the instructions and use another!
