I have a two teacher job fairs to attend but they are on the same day. One is in Tampa, the other is in Daytona Beach. I have taught in Tallahassee for two years and I am trying to explore other areas of Florida. I can't decide which job fair to attend. Can anyone compare the two cities for me and tell me which one is the best choice.

Speaking from only the Tampa perspective, the job fairs here are put on very well, attendance is high also. In the Tri county area the development of schools is non stop. Public, and private schools as well as collages in the area. Housing is a bit high as are taxes but no more so than across the state. But if you live in Pasco and work with in 30 to 40 miles (1 to 1.25 hour rush hour) from home it is worth it.

Just a Tampon talking, lol

Contact the human resources department of the one you decide not to attend on that day and tell them you have a prior commitment and can you interview before or after their job fair. They will accommodate you.

Check out the pay on their websites and see who pays more.
I live in Tampa because there is a lot to do. There are two universities and a law school, which raises the caliber of the people who live here. Ybor City has the clubs, we have very good shopping at International Mall. It is not a snow bird town, most people live and work here all year round, and the schools are expanding as young families move in here. We have the largest museum of science and industry in the south (good for school trips), Lowry Park zoo is very good and we have Busch Gardens. The Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center has plays and the Forum has concerts. It is cheaper to live in Pasco, but you pay the difference in gas. You want to live not far from where you teach as you don't want to spend your time commuting. Look for housing in Carrollwood or Westchase. There are some nice apts for $650 a month off of Dale Mabry. If you look on Craigs list you can probably find someone who will rent you a condo cheaply as the real estate market is depressed from overbuilding and prices have fallen.
