Yes, in most cases you can. If your machine has an available slot, just insert a standalone video card of the appropriate type (either PCI-E or AGP)

Note that some high-end video cards may require an upgrade of the power supply as well...

Sure, you can add a video card to your motherboard. Just make sure that the PCI-Express or AGP slot is free, :-). And also don't open the case when you are still under warranty, opening the case and tampering with your motherboard usually voids the warranty. Just ask the shop where you've bought the computer to make sure.

you may want to disable the onboard video to get the pci-e card to take over for one element. Secondly, you elect to understand in case you actually have a pci-e slot and extremely last yet no longer least, if its a computer, ignore the completed theory because you cant positioned a video card in a computer.

Depends on what slot it has, some will just have PCI, some will have 1 x AGP, or the new ones with 1 x PCI-E, check the model and see.

Almost always, yes =)

Check the model of your desktop like an "Hp Pavillion", and check what type of ports it has. Like "PCI" "AGP" or "PCI-E", and depending on what type of port you have, you can buy a Graphics card for that type of port.

Yes you can. Install the driver from the cd you should have gotten with your video card, then shut down your computer, install the new card and reboot. The driver should be installed by your Os and you will be ready to roll.
