I am a system administrator. My company spends a fairly large amount to provide business internet service to the employees so they can do their work at work. In fact they come to work to work, not to play on the Internet or to play with other company resources.

We block non-business sites because people abuse the system and tie up capacity in non-business uses. When we catch offenders addressing non-business sites, they are referred to Human Resources and frequently they are discharged. We then add those sites to the blocked site category.

If you want to stay employed, stick to business at work.

By the way, there is no way around blocked sites; that is why we have them blocked.

You shoudln't do anything. You can still be tracked if you try to get around it. If you're found to be dodging the policies, you will get FIRED.

Ask him, then be careful if he says no. He might fire you if you try to get on those sites.
