Hie Love. Well to me when I get married to that particular girl, whether she wants to change or don't it is up to her, Because she has the rights for her to do so, well you can't force a person and ask her to change it at once. Maybe later when I have a child then it will be my name because a girl is good to have her last name with her instead of her changing whereby she have to do alot of paper works towards it, and will take a long time for it to have the acctual one. Try and hope it iwll help you..................
ALL THE BEST......................

My husband was a bit shocked when he figured out (a few months before we got married) that I wasn't considering changing my name, but he got over it within an hour. The subject has not come up since. We are both fairly irreverent when it comes to "traditions".

if it's about leaving your birth family and creating a new family, how about picking a new last name together, and both changing?
It amazed me that most men would NEVER consider any kind of change in their name, and yet can't understand why women might hesitate to give up their identity.

Damn, I am shocked with some of these answers.
It is ONLY tradition. Are some of you afraid to change.? Do you guys think your wife is your property?
And women, wow, It's the way it should be because that's the way it's always been.
It's easier to go with the way it's been, rather than change. You don't have to think.
That's why this country is in the mess it's in.
God Bless America. He better 'cause ya all need help.

it depends on her reason why. If it had something to do with her job I wouldn't mind at all. If she is a lawyer or real estate agent...... or something else where they get clients from word of mouth, I could understand it, but if she just doesn't want to change it because she doesn't like your last name, I think we would need to talk about it....... unless your name is just that bad. good luck

It's just a name. The ring doesn't keep you married either. At the end of the day, who does she come home to?

It would depend on the circumstances. I'd rather go with the hyphen then not have my last name there in some way

A man can also take his wife's last name, you know. It's not unheard of.
Women also like to pass on their last name and family heritage to their child(ren).

Actually, I would prefer that she kept her name. If I ever get married, it will be to an independent woman with her own head on her shoulders...
