when back in the early 90's they were worth thousands of dollars. I've still got over 20,000 cards. Lots of complete sets, rookie cards from players in the 1980's, vintage cards. They're not worth squat anymore. What gives?

I haven't collected since the early 90's, but I was hoping to have some $$ from these one day.

Good question. The price of cards have dropped Considerably. People don't collect them much any more, and if they do they mainly want rookies, autographs, jerseys, game balls, and so on. Just the hard to find cards and inserts. I have collected foot ball cards for a long time. Can you believe Jerry Rices rookie is only $80.00? Montana's is 150.00? They have dropped because some company decided it would be a good idea to make reprints. That's another reason. Hope I helped.

The reason why your collection may not be worth as much now is due to the fact that a lot of the cards in your collection haver dropped in value. This happens for different reasons. Either the player does not do as well as expected; the amount of the card made; and also up until recently, baseball card collecting has not been as popular as it was back 10 years ago. It is unfortunate, but it does happen. Any more questions, feel free to e-mail me.

As soon as people atart collecting something with an eye to investment rather than just the love of the item, it drops in value.

baseball cards are not as popular as they used to be, so with less demand the price goes down, as with everything in supply/demand
