Politics.

The Amnesty bill advances the Agenda of both parties. The Democrats see it as an investment: the illegals aliens are mostly 'minorities,' minorities historically register Democrat, 12 or 20 million more minorities - and thier children - mean nearly that many more Democratic voters in the long run.

Iraq involves a little more double-think. The Democrat-controlled Congress does have the constitutional power to end the war by cutting funding. But, if they did, Bush would have a field day decrying the 'abandonment' of the troops - and, the Democratic party would pay the price for /decades/, as they will be remembered as 'loosing the Iraq war.'

Why do politician's support anything? Because the people that put them in office want them to do it. People are not perfect, just because Bush is right on the war on terror, does mean he is going to be right on the Amnesty bill. The Dem's however are wrong on both issues. But mark my words the Dem's I'm sure are right on something just like a broken clock is right twice a day.
