Hello there,

I'm after a new router, and am thinking about either of these two Linksys ones, but I'm not sure which.

One is cheaper, but looks a lot better, while the more expensive one is more flexible with a lot of great firmware upgrades that multiply the speed of it.

What say you guys?!

I have a WRT54GL running DD-WRT. It is great! IPv6, VPN in and out, etc.

On the other hand, if you are not a networking geek and don't need something particular from DD-WRT, either one will do just fine. Linksys is a pretty reliable company, all things considered.

As a rule of thumb you get what you pay for.

Cheaper means slower processor and less sophisticated firmware.

If you are a lightweight user, with few others on your LAN you may be ok with the cheaper one.

I would not use either for a high security applicaiton or for business.

Be sure to use all the security measures or you will get hacked by someone and it could be a disaster.

attempt putting in basic terms the password (admin), do no longer positioned any username... If all else fails, there's a reset button which you would be able to push/press to reset the router to default settings. stable success.
