I think Marilyn Monroe's sex appeal eminated more from her attitude and bahavior than her actual appearance.
The trouble is that while it was easy for a woman to garner attention doing the things that she did in her time, women today would have quite a difficult time standing out in the same way.
I don't think anyone today has the same sort of sex-symbol status that she had then, and I don't believe that it would really be possible for anyone to do so anymore.

Well I am biased because I love Marilyn Monroe she was so gorgeous. She had her share of problems though. She went to rehab for drug and alcohol problems. I don't think anything bad of current troubled celebrities like Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton etc. I feel for them. I think they are seriously fu**ed in the head and need help!!! They get bagged all the time and hounded, followed. They get treated like royalty getting into parties when they are underage and drink etc. they have a lot of money and weird parents. I think the difference between celebrities of today and yesterday is our technology. If a celebrity of today stuffs up there is always someone close by with a mobile phone to capture it and then post the footage on the Internet. The time Marilyn Monroe was around was pretty glamorous. I think that helped. As I said I think Marilyn was so gorgeous and beautiful but she was a troubled young woman also.

Marilyn Monroe's measurements were something like 37-24-35. I'm sure some star has similar measurements.
If you're going by the comment that Marilyn wore a size 12, remember that women's sizes have changed a great deal since then.

I think so, though it may take a while. What is considered "beautiful" changes quite a bit. If you take a look at Renaissance art you'll note the women are, shall we say, quite soft because that was the "idealized" version of beauty at the time, much like the slimmer look is considered "ideal" by the media today.

I am afraid it will be a long time before a size 14 (Marilyn's size) woman will be a sex symbol again.

I hope so... it would be lovely to see a more "realistic" woman as a sex symbol.... being a curvy gal myself... I would love to be able to look into magazines and see photos of women who represent me, and many others like me...not all of us find the stick thin thing attractive... and not all of us can obtain that "ideal" even if we wanted to...we would have a world of much less stress, if we accepted "natural" beauty that surrounds us... as opposed to dieting our way to "beautiful"

Marilyn Monroe didnt have a figure THAT good. She was sort of chubby if you've seen that one picture on the beach.
