I don't know that Jesus is a socialist. the scripture you undoubtedly miss-quoted says "It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God"
The story in brief is that Jesus told the Rich man to give all that he has away and follow him and that would get him to haven.
The lesson is not money is bad, the lesson is when you worship money you forget God.
Thanks for letting me answer even though it was a "Tongue and Cheek" Question

No, I don't think Rush would do that. Your reliable source is quoted incorrectly and totally out of context. (See Below)
What the J-man was saying is that those who worship money rather than God will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
God does not have a problem with the rich and in fact gave great wealth to many righteous men. It has nothing to do with Socialism.
Thanks for the opportunity to provide some insight on this often misquoted verse.

Have you aligned with the political right to the detriment of Christian principles? While pointing out the sins of the left have you ignored the sins of the right (ROMANS 3:23) ? Remember that political arguments are temporary while people on both sides of the aisle are eternal (ROMANS 1:13-16).
Have you deferred to the rich at the expense of the poor? Have you forgotten that even the best arguments for capitalism do not justify oppression, mistreatment or disregard for those in need (JAMES 2:1-9)?
Great Christian writer, C.S. Lewis, had to say about Jesus of Nazareth in "The Four Loves":
"Certainly not all the psychologists' picture, of the integrated, adjusted, balanced, happily-married, satisfactorily-employed, popular, regular citizen. You can't be so well-adjusted to your world, you know, if it ends by nailing you up to a stake of wood."
What would a Pat Robertson do with Jesus if he were to show up in his church? Let's take a looksee:
1. Unemployed (sucking off the public tit!)
2. Unmarried and hangs around with a bunch of men (what an example to set for our children, he must be gay!!)
3. Keeps butting heads with the religious conservative establishment of his day (must be a dirty lib or commie!)
4. Hangs around with prostitutes, tax gatherers, sinners of all types.
5. Sympathies always with the poor, the rejected, the outsider.
6. Killed by the conservative religious establishment of his day.
If that sounds like a conservative, I will, as Mr. Brownlow's companion said in Oliver Twist, "eat me own head."

This is true. I think that Rush would also point out the many other aspects of Jesus life to bring perpective to HIS opinions on life. Bringing factual evidence of what people say to get the picture of what they are and stand for.
For example in Matthew 23:13-15 He called the Pharisees hypocrites and white washed tombs because they say one thing and do another.
A great example would be the democrats who voted for the War in Iraq and now pretend like that really didn't happen. I think Jesus behind Rush's microphone would have liberals heads spinning on their necks like in the Exorcist. He would hit them right between their eyes for all their hypocrisy and double faced lies.
The Republicans would also be looking for a place on the floor to hide if Jesus was behind Rush's EIB mic.
What do you think about that?

Nah. Jesus endorsed the separation of church and state "give unto Caesar that which is Caesar's and give unto God that which is God's". Rush (like any true conservative) doesn't have a problem with communism, socialism, populism, etc. so long as they are not made part and parcel to the actual government. Under the umbrella of capitalism each person is allowed to voluntarily participate in communes and charities. It just becomes a problem when you start forcing people to give to charities(welfare....) and 'social justice' programs that they don't believe in.

Jesus wasn't a socialist but he certainly was a lot more liberal than many contemporary Christians. In fact an argument could be made that he was more of a radical social reformer than a religious leader or messiah.
You should also read Matthew 25: 31 - 46 where Jesus tells his followers that those who don't help the poor and needy are headed straight for hell. So are people who persecute illegal immigrants, and treat prisoners inhumanely. In fact, Jesus goes so far as to say those who do help the poor and needy, visit the imprisoned, and help immigrants (referred to in the Bible as strangers) are helping Jesus himself.

Nah! a bunch of socialists would get a wake up call though because "God helps those who help themselves" and he didn't mean to my wallet!
Not to mention he advocated poverty...he encouraged people to LEAVE BEHIND their worldly goods...To look to him for their needs and NOT chase after money and possessions...
Money meant nothing to Jesus or God...How would the socialists fund their programs with their leader tossing out the cash?

Jesus was neither a hippie nor a socialist/communist.
A rich man could very well apply to communist party leaders the same as any other leaders or even more so since they have proven such disasterous and murderous leaders.

uhh that doesn't mean he is a socialist. he didn't say the rich should be forced to give their money to the gov. that is what socialists say. you liberals are all about choice, why don't you let the rich choose what to do with their hard earned money?
