who thinks that if barry bonds just came out and said " sorry... i used steriods and i've been a pretty big jurk in the past. i'm sorry for embarassing my sport, my team, and my record" that you would support him?

I honestly think where Barry went wrong was in his approach towards the media. If he showed himself to be more likable, it would be easier for people to forgive him or maybe even ignore his past. But at this time I don't think and apology will do much to improve his image. Barry is one of those guys you either like him or you don't, no gray area.

I think that based upon the facts and proof presented to us, the public, Barry does not have to apologize for anything. He has done no wrong and there are only lies coming from the media, hearsay and circumstantial evidence. None of that stuff would hold up in court.

What proof do you have to show he took steroids?
What proof do you have to prove he is a "jerk"?
What proof do you have to show he embarassed baseball, and his team?
What proof do you have to show he broke a record (he only surpassed the single season record - someone else may surpass it as well)?

My proof is that he is not a jerk. I've met him many times in a personal manner at work. He is genuine, funny, is not big headed, not self-centered and always willing to shake your hand and give you an autograph, provided you are just as courteous. He's a true gentleman, but sadly the people are blind followers, brainwashed by the media into thinking he's a bad guy.

People might have been more willing to to give the guy a chance at redemption the same way they have done with Jason Giambi. But Barry Bonds makes his situation worse the more he tries to deny what pretty much everybody in baseball knows already.

I used to love baseball.Barry Bonds represents just one of the many things that have been allowed to ruin the game.If I were playing poker and it was ascertained I was playing with an extra Ace,I don,t believe a simple "OH,I'm sorry!",would be enough for anyone at the table.I believe they would take their money back and I would never be allowed to play again.Home run king?Never.

Yeah, and monkeys might fly out of his butt, too. . . .
Bonds has no character like that. How can he? He has no ethics. If he did, he never would have doped up in the first place.
Any apology Bonds made at this point would ring hollow--as hollow as his HR record will be in the eyes of the public. He's too much of a DB to apologize and mean it, anyway. . . .

Yes, I would appreciate some honesty in the matter and the sad part is that Barry has always been good enough to do without them.

Giambi has very deliberately avoided publicly saying he used steroids. He uses evasive words and lets others fill in with their own imaginations. People should stop giving him any grace on this matter.

why should he have to? baseball took a dont care stance for so long because what him and other long ball hitters do is put people in the seats. selig should be saying sorry for not acting yrs ago instead of all the owners getting fat rich from it

Right now people are going...
"You stupid cheater, grow back your balls and admit to steroids, everyone else knows already."
or
"Just f***ing admit it, you cheated, maybe we will forgive you."

And we all know if he comes out and goes "Yes I took steroids...", all those people are going to go...
"I f***ing knew it, stupid cheater leave the game."
or (for those who said they would support / repsect him if he admits it)
"Booooo, get outta the game, leave the sport and let it have its integrity back, you suck!"

My point? If you hate Bonds you hate Bonds, there is no level where you will respect him if you believe he cheated and hate him as much as people do now. Coming clean will just make those haters hate him even more and even act even more hostile towards him.
