3 words- don't do it!!! If you really want to move to the states, find a nice normal place- there are lots of beautiful, interesting places to live and work. LV housing market is crazy- and a lot of the people are, too. I can say this as I lived there for 9 years. And a total of 20 years in the state of Nevada- although, in my humble opinion, Northern Nevada (Lake Tahoe, Carson City, Reno) is much saner, more beautiful and more to do outside of the casinos if you're hellbent on moving to Nevada! Good Luck!

there are many job opportunities in las vegas, particularly for foreigners looking for hotel/casino work. check out the classified ads at www.lasvegasnewspapers.com. housing is super expensive for the area. being from Greece, the heat here shouldn't be a problem for you either. Stick with Henderson/Green Valley area for living if you work on the Strip. The rest of town is shady to live in and will take a very long time in traffic to get to work.

I'm a realtor in Las Vegas. There's tons of work in the hotel industry. It's very much a buyer's market in housing, so you can get a lot of bargain homes, either from new home builders offering crazy incentives or from people desparate to sell their homes. We're in a market recovery period, which is probably going to last through the end of 2008, after which you should be able to sell your home without much trouble.

The average price for a home is $250,000 to $300,000; there are many places more expensive to live right now, like San Diego or NYC.
