Discipline and self control. Well worth the effort in my opinion.
For my bit of advice... Instead of reacting to things, try to understand them and why these things happen/happened then come up with your response. If the world did this, it would be a much better and peaceful place.
The vulcan philosophy goes too far, though. Life with no emotions just isn't worth living. Ever seen the movie called Equilibrium? Great movie, check it out.

Emotions are good as long as you master them.If you had no emotions you´d be a rock, you couldn´t feel anything, not even love.
What you must do is to control your heart by using your head , so that emotions won´t rule you. In order to achieve this discipline is important. Set yourself realistic goals and achieve them. And above all, be ascetic. Get up early, don´t talk too much, don´t eat more than you need. Be your own master!

Disclipline + Acting + Lots of time + Natural Ability (Introversion)
Its good to keep emotions under control so that you dont seem too crazy or wild but a little here and there cant hurt.
Start by maintaining a calm exterior, meditation and lots of self reflection help a lot in this.

Everybody needs emotions! The difference is when that trait controls them and not the other way around. Just like thinking is also a tool for humans so is emotions. One can not have one without the other. If one represses their emotions there could be negative consequences.

I would suggest that of the 16 personality types some are very good at either having minimal emotion or masking them very well. Not sure you could learn how to be less emotional. Check your personality type here:

IF we are truly emotionless, we will be like robots. Not a really good idea. What is needed is the golden middle path as taught by Buddha and Krishna and other great Masters. One key for not over-reacting is breath awareness, followed by breath control. Yoga and meditation will help you.

You will always have emotions and they will always be evident. The Vulcans and Spock are a fairy tale, though a good fairy tale. You will never achieve their state of being. Welcome to the human race.
