It's our occupation that creates an intensified recruitment drive for terrorists. Afghanistan was justified. But if we hadn't invaded Iraq, absolutely no one would feel as though there is a possibility for terrorists coming to fight us in NYC or LA. The reason you feel this way is simply because the Iraq War has backfired 180 degrees on us, thus terrorism has grown way out of control. This is outrageously obvious.
How come you haven't figured this out yet?

Heather, we went into Afghanistan because of 9-11. So your point is not correct. Also, what crackhead told you Saddam wanted to attack the USA? Iraq was not even able to do so.

Idiots! Do I have to spell it out for you?
I KNOW 9-11 HAPPENED BEFORE IRAQ! THAT IS WHY I SAID AFGHANISTAN WAS JUSTIFIED!
Iraq was just plain unnecessary.

As a conservitive, and one who does not support the Iraq and Afghanistan occupations Let me try and answer that. First what many Americans dont understand(Liberal,or Conservitive) is what fuels the Arab worlds hatred twords us. It is simply not just plain hatred of America. What it is....Is the U.S. goverments policys twords thier countries. These are meddlesome policies that go way beond what one would call diplomatic. It is an attitude of.Im the bigest kid on the block So you will do it my way or no way. Just think a minute......If another country was trying to dictate how you and your family or neighbors lived? Wolud you not feel anger? Second is The U.S. policies concerning Isreal. It is no secret that the worst terrorists in the world are the Isralies. Just look a little deeper into the whole Palistine thing. And....I dont mean the main stream news.Dig a little You will find the truth. Ask yourself....Why is it that all the problems in the middle east are blamed on the arab world. The U.S and Isreal maintain that any arab country with weapons of mass distruction are evil. Who has them there? And why are they the only country that doesnt have to claim they have them. Lastly....Terrorism is a form of warfare. When an enemy is up against the best military in the world.....They must figure an effective way to fight back. Remember....There are no goods and there are no evils in times of war. The idea to take the fight to the terrorists has lost because the military hasnt learned to fight that way,and Liberal politicions who play the blame game with the commander in chief. All for politicle gain.

Ok, I'm a conservative that is AGAINST the Iraq war. I don't think the "Iraq War" is the same thing as "The War on Terror."
I think it is asinine to assume that terrorism would not be a concern if we hadn't invaded Iraq. We have had many terrorist attacks even before we invaded Iraq. (Remember September 11? That was before we invaded Iraq.)
I believe that you 100% incorrect in your presumption that terrorists wouldn't want to fight us in NY or LA if we hadn't invaded Iraq. Isn't that great about our country though? We can both disagree 100% on something like that, and neither one of us has to live in fear of being oppressed for our views. Enjoy that. Not many people in the world can.
EDIT: Thank you for calling me an idiot. I simply pointed out the 9/11 stuff because YOU said, "...if we hadn't invaded Iraq, terrorism would not really be a concern." I'm not going to call you an idiot, but I'll let people draw their own conclusions from reading that question.

Um yeah, might want to reevaluate your time-line there, I believe there were several severe acts of terrorism against the US on our own soil and overseas long long LONG before we ever entered Iraq.
Umm IDIOT right back at you - why would we be unconcerned about terrorism after we had already been terrorized, and then suddenly less-so after attacking Afghanistan and not Iraq? There were countless terrorist attacks against international US interests and our allies by radical Muslim groups with ties to 9-11 before we invaded Iraq. So I think we were concerned about terrorism pretty much after 9-11 regardless, nobody felt that we had completely eliminated terrorism after Afghanistan. Whether or not that meant we had to go to Iraq is irrelevant, simply invading Afghanistan did not stop world or US terrorism.

I do think that we should pull out of Iraq, but everyone must realize that establishing a new government and securing borders does not happen over night. Like you said, Afghanistan was justified, but we did need to help out in Iraq, but we might have gone a bit too far. I am a conservative, and I also think that we should pull out, but not until Iraq is a stable government. Also, food for thought, will Hilary be that effective in our foreign relations with the middle east if she becomes president?? I think not. She has great ideas and I think that she could help this country, but not in the role of president, if we have any woman as president anytime soon our relations with the middle east will go down the toilet, they will not negotiate with a woman.
God Bless!!

It's funny to hear Reps/Cons respond to these questions even though their president has already come out and said there were no ties to 9/11, no wmds, no real threat - Yet these idiots still bring up these arguments knowing they're not true. Is it because you don't have a response? It's either those responses or the moronic "Bury your head in the sand much?" responses. Typical Republicans. They just respond with name calling or change the topic to avoid the subject at hand. That's one of the main differences between Reps and Dems......Reps don't play fair. They advocate cheating and lying as long as helps push their agenda. I know it goes on in both sides but generally speaking, Reps/Cons rely strictly on deception and corruption in order to obtain success. Very pathetic.

I'm not conservative at all, but you're soooo wrong.
Yes, Iraq was a huge mistake, and completely uncalled for, but we would still have had 9/11, and the War on Terror would still be occurring.
We didn't think terrorism was a concern before 9/11 and we were wrong then too.

I see. Our toppling the Butcher of Baghdad and freeing fifty million people was the cause of 9-11, the first WTC bombings, and suicide bombings in France, Israel, Afghanistan, Lebanon and the Phillipines (among others).
I see clearly now.
Oh, just one pesky little question: Why doesn't the fact that these things happened BEFORE we went into Iraq change your perception of things?

While I agree with your opinion about the root of terrorism, remember that we suffered terrorist attacks BEFORE we invaded Iraq.
We need to get our nose out of the Middle East in general. Quit supporting rebel groups; quit telling them how to run their countries...Only then will we cease to make ourselves a target.
