Hurt feelings arise from a sense of being wronged by some one and lack of forgiveness. So, conflict is inevitable esp. if open conflict and resolution of the hurt feelings or open retaliation and revenge are not possible. Examples are children vs. parents. When young, the children cannot retaliate and so carry negative feelings of hurt and guilt (they feel they should love their parents) through many years of life. A subordinate vs. boss, wife vs. husband in many male dominated societies...are examples of hurt feelings setting up a conflict, mostly internal but sometimes external too.

Hurt feelings can be conflicting emotions within yourself as well. You know that what happened was someone who meant well, and wanted to help, or so they thought. But, what they really did was hurt. Unfortunately it happens a lot. And a lot of people never say anything. This can cause relationships to break up, or good friends to be lost.
