It depends how you are looking at it. If you are looking at the mother and then offspring, then chicken comes first. If you are looking at newborn then adult, then the egg comes before chicken.

This is easy to answer when you think of it evolutionarily. We know that chickens haven't always existed. They evolved from some earlier ancestor bird. So there was a long, gradual process of the ancestor species turning into the chicken species. We might not know exactly when it happened, but at some point, there had to be a bird that was the FIRST chicken. If that's true, that individual bird started out its life as an egg. So the answer is egg!

the egg came first because as time passed by, evolution occurs, so pretty much the egg came from a bird similar to the chicken, which evolved into a chicken.

The egg. A sperm/egg cell had to mutate to form the first egg, which developed into a chicken from an evolutionary ancestor.

The chicken. It says in Genesis that God created the birds on day five of creation. It doesn't say He created eggs, it says he created birds, full up, with functioning reproductive systems, the product of which are eggs.

i can express my thought about this thing is that it might have happened that both would have been created or evovled at the same time!
because hen comes from egg and egg comes from hen thus it is a long dispute.
Thus assume both might have have been created at once!!
