A house fly can live for one month.
It depends what kind of fly you are talking about.

Depends on the species. A very tiny, gnat like fly will probably only live a few hours. Larger flies live longer. The typical housefly will live, if I remember correctly, about two weeks.

I've known healthy laboratory fruitflies to live 40 days, a long life for a fly, but totally possible.

My husband says three days. One time he drowned a fly until it was dead and then ressurected it by burying it in salt. Or so he claims...it sprang forth from the pile of salt flying after about 30 minutes. I have personally frozen them and thawed out but I don't know about this salt thing....maybe i'll ask.
