PC freezes are usually caused by a process taking up all your CPU. Find the process (other than system idle) that is taking up all your resources, "google" the process identity and what it is used for. Kill the process. Uninstall the software that is utilizing this process.

Run msconfig and also uncheck the process from there.

It seems like you've already used all the major spyware removal programs. You should also try both adaware and spybot which can both be found at www.download.com. The crashing/speed issue might be caused from startup programs. To see what programs Windows is running right at startup, do the following:

Press Windows key + R
Type "msconfig"
Go to the startup tab
Here you can see everything Windows is running at startup which is probably a lot of useless junk you will never need. Uncheck all those that you think are useless and apply. Restart and try again.

If all that doesn't work...chances are your best bet is to reformat. It sounds bad, but it will solve all your problems. If reformatting doesn't work, it *might* be a power supply issue although generally power supply issues means your PC will restart randomly for no reason at all. Hope this helps.

Something is tying up the processor capacity.

Hit the Control Alt Delete keys and go to task manager. Click on processes tab. Click on the CPU processor tab and sort the entries in this column from highest to lowest. System Idle should be at the top most of the time. If something else is at the top, note its name as it is the problem.

Do a search engine search for the culprit and follow its directions on fix.

If you reformatted and it came back, you are picking it up from your network or the Internet.

Update Microsoft security and your virus protection too.

Go to www.iobit.com and download Advanced Windows Care V2 Personal and IObit Smart Defrag. Both of these programs will increase the performance of your computer, and they don't use a lot of RAM.

Then right click My Computer and select properties. Then click on the Advanced tab. Now click on Performance Options and then click on change. Now set your initial paging file size to atleast 1.5 times your regular RAM and set the max to about 2.5 times the regular RAM.

Now use the Advanced Windows Care to manage the start up programs and uncheck the programs you don't need.

If you currently have installed something new or have updated something, roll back to the regular setup you had. Updates and new installation can screw your pc over depending on its requirements. Becareful this could lead to malfunctions and so on. You may need to contact a specialist for help. Good luck on your pc, hope everything works ok.

click on start go to run. type msconfig. click on the startup tab. you want to get rid of any files there. if you are not sure what they are and look like the path is that of a system file, leave it alone. but anything else can go. good luck!

WHY THE HECK DID YOU REFORMAT YOUR C:DRIVE??? if you could do a system restore...DO IT! but make sure you burn & save all your files...BUT make sure you check the files for viruses.and i find it a lot simpler to use only one anti virus program because you might be running anti-virus software that comes with a firewall....and we all know that you can only use one firewall because they tend to conflict..and if you get an internet connection search
'panda' antivirus.it's the ****!!! goodluck and let me know how it went...LATER
