I take garlic, grape seed extract, and vitamin C. Am I over doing it?

Yes, you can overdose on vitamins that you ingest in tablet or capsule form. However, if you get these vitamins from their natural food source then there is no harm. Here are some side effects of a few:

More than 100 mgs of Vitamin E daily, taken for a long period of time, may cause bleeding, blood clots, and breast tumors.

Mega doses of Vitamin C may cause diarrhea and gas, and should not be taken if you are on chemotherapy, as you could actually be feeding the cancer cells.

An overdose of Vitamin B6 may cause memory loss and motor control loss.

Overdosing on Iron interferes with the body's ability to absorb zinc.

Megadoses of Vitamins A & D daily, taken for a long period of time, may cause liver damage, hair loss, and blurred vision.

Constipation can be a side effect of taking vitamins and/or medications. Drink plenty of water, eat fresh fruits and vegetables, take a fiber supplement, get plenty of fresh air, and exercise according to your body's abilities.

Uh, for the lady who says that vitamin C can never be toxic: It gives you diarrhea when you take too much.

If you take too much of antioxidants from a single source, your body essentially becomes 'overfed' on it and cannot absorb more. You could probably save money on a monthly basis by taking a combined product. Write me back if you want an idea on this, as far as a product goes.

Multiple source antioxidants will give your body the best absorption. Liquid sources are generally better than pill or solids.

Yes, as it is possible to take "too much" of anything! More does not mean better, and in many cases, can actually be toxic. For example, if the bottle of Vitamin C says to take "x" mgs. per day, then don't take more. At best, you are wasting your money. Also be aware of how these things interact; lots and lots of so-called herbal remedies are actually totally useless. However, they are not regulated (a lot of them) by the FDA as they are not classified as "drugs" per se, so it's a free-for-all. Someone is making a ton of money from gullible consumers!

You have not mentioned the quantities and so I cannot answer. You can add green tea extract, pomogranate and other vegetables too. Try to get your antioxidants through food and drinks and not by capsules. That way, you will never get too much.

Vitamin C can never be toxic. Its a water soluble vitamin that you simple expel if its not used by the body. However there are other vitamins that can be toxic.

I would say one is enough if you are eating healthy and exercising. Otherwise I agree with the first poster, you are wasting money.
