Laid up for at least 6 mo after surgery. Need easy online class suggestions that he can do while recooping. Also, will not be able to talk but can read and do some limited writing. After recooping he will be able to do things normally again.

Forgive me, but perhaps this might be a good time for him to explore on his own. If talking and writing are going to be a problem, any instructor (online or otherwise) is going to have a hard time assessing his performance in a course.
That doesn't necessarily mean that he can't learn though. You can go to your local college and purchase some textbooks that he can read--perhaps for courses that he will take at some point, and he can get a leg up on the reading now. Or there are some terrific magazines for him to read if he's interested in the areas of business, political science or international affairs. Or, if he's interested in literature, there are a plethora of lists of the greatest 100 novels that he can start with.
I wish him a speedy recovery.

I suggest looking at the classes offered at the school he wants to go to full time after he recoups. that way, he won't have any problems with credit transfers. Or, look at a local community college; they often offer many online classes. I'm just suggesting that you don't look at an online school - look at classes offered by accredited traditional colleges; otherwise he may do all of the work but not be able to transfer credits to a "real" college once he's ready to go.

I doubt he'll have to do any writing with pen/paper at all for an online class - he could do it all on his computer

I don't know how good he is at math; but if he's pretty good, a math class would require little writing and might be easy. Or some kind of a basic computer class (html or web design stuff).
here is a huge list of classes offered online from U of Illinois online just to give you some ideas

Oh these fish stories,,,, A teen would choke before he would tell his parents he was chucking college and going to Las Vegas to be a gambler... More likely he would just run away from home. There are no 'gamblers schools, however there are 'dealers schools' in Las Vegas where you learn to be the table dealer, But I think you may have to pay for them, just like community college ...and gambling is not a secured profession with a viable wage. Go do your homework,,,

Unfortunately, most online classes require some form of typing or writing on assignments even with the easy classes. However, the assignments are turned in over the internet which means typing. My brother finished his MBA almost two years ago.
