not that much, depends on how many total class points u have and how much the quiz was worth, but i'd say a b and higher is great! c if u have a total of like 100 class points and u get a 0 out of 10 on the quiz it's an f, but the class grade will be 90 out of 100 so u'll have like an a- even though u bombed that quiz! don't worry about it, there's other opportunities 2 higher ur grade, and ask 4 help from the teacher.

Let's talk real numbers shall we:

If you have a total of 475 points out of 500 that's 95% which is an A.
Now if you got 42 points out of 50 on a quiz that's 84%.

Adding together your new grade is 517 out of 550 which is 94%.

Having a quiz or test score lower than your grade will always lower your grade, but it depends on how strong your A is (95% is stronger than 90%) and it depends on the time of year. Lower quiz and test scores at the beginning the semester affect grades more than later in the year. That's why it's always best to start the year strong so that if you struggle later on the hit to your grade isn't as bad.

If you barely got an -A (90-91%), then probally might go to a +B.
But if you got an -A at 93 or 94%, then the B on your quiz shouldnt move the grade down but might bring the average down from say, 93% to 91 or 92%.
